I never really was interested in Tarzan when I was a kid although I knew the story briefly.But I happened to watch the dvd with my kids and I truly enjoyed it.
It is an interesting story of a baby lost on a jungle island when his parents are killed. The boy is found by a female gorilla who brings him up as her son-thats why he is Tarzan the ape man.He later encounters a girl called Jane and falls in love with her...Later they find that Tarzan is actually a Lord from England......
But this animated version differs slightly and is well adapted for kids of about 3 to 10 years of age.
Here they have shown Tarzan trying to fit in into his gorilla family..He knows he is different though he is as good as all the others ,actually better than some of them at jungle survival.His father (kerchak) who is leader of the gorillas never accepts him as his son...untill the end when he makes him the leader after him. Tarzan meets Jane who has come to the jungle to study gorillas,they fall in love and in the end she stays back with him.
The highlights of this film for kids are- 1-the music,wonderful songs sung by Phil Collins.
2.Beautiful animation as usual by Disney.The expressions especially on the female gorilla (who looks after Tarzan ) are really touching.
ust for your information ,there are scenes where the leapord kills a baby Gorilla and Tarzan`s parents,though the actual killing is not shown you may have to explain it to your kids.
Great movie for a sunday/holiday with kids, you could also gift it .
My kids love it and have watched it so many times, they know it byheart.
