Sportstar is one of the oldest sports magazines in India. You can visit their website at '' https://sportstaronnet.com ''
In the old days before the advent of the cable channels,I used to read this magazine regularly to keep track of non indian cricket matches (like the ashes) which were not that widely covered in the regional newspapers.I used to be a subscriber of sportstar.Cricket is the most widely covered sports in the magazine. Other sports are not given as much coverage as cricket in sportstar. But I do not think most Indians are likely to complain about greater coverage of cricket.
I like the 'tour diary' column in sportstar. It gives some background information of the cricket tours. Some of my friends used to collect the star poster (middle page pullout) that came with sportstar. The photos are also very good. The magazine gave very detailed statistics of most international cricket series.I also like the cartoon and small quiz that comes near the end of the magazine.
But nowadays I watch most of the international matches on cable tv (as long as the cablewallah and the sports channel owners can work out an equitable agreement about their money problems, otherwise the sports channels are off the cable network for weeks especially during some cricket series). Also I now read The Hindu newspaper. It gives a good coverage of sports.(I think both sportstar and The Hindu newspaper are published by the same publishers KASTURI & SONS). Now there are some other magazines like 'wisden cricket magazine'.
I do not subscribe to sportstar now. But I still buy copies from the newspaper stand now and then.
Thank you for reading.
