Happened to come across a situation where a SPEEDPOST item booked at HO Malappuram to be delivered to Palakkad address was bagged for Kozhikode, who in turn bagged it to Thrissur through RMS Kozhikode. On receipt of the item on day-2, the Thrissur Office bagged it to Palakkad. The Palakkad Office received the item on day-3 and the ultimate delivery to the addressee thus took place on day-3.
It is noticed that on booking a Speed Post item from one Centre and bagging it to a Hub, which bags it to another Hub and who in turn bags it again to 3rd / 4th recipient involving at every stage processes like Bag Receipt/Bag Open/Item Receipt and then again bagging it primarily delays receipt of the item by the addressee. No less important is the fact that it increases the number of processes, connected workload and inherent risk. In the instant case the item involved is passport emanating from the Passport Office Malappuram destined to Palakkad and hence there will be many similar cases.
It is my earnest request to India Post to have a relook in the operational cycle of speed post items so that the INDIA POST becomes more efficient.
