Odd Couple. Review on Sideways

Fox have uncovered the finest comedy of the year with this fabulous film about a wine connoisseur who goes on a road trip/wine bender and finds out there's more to life than Pinot Noir.

Following a painful divorce, would-be novelist Miles's(Paul Giamatti) sole pleasure in life is fine wine.He decides to take old pal Jack(Thomas Haden Church), a has-been actor, on a wine-tasting trip to celebrate Jack's upcoming wedding.But Jack is more interested in a last bit of skirt-chasing.

This endearing odd couple glug their way up California's coastlineand encounter wine, women and song.

Miles takes a shine to waitress, and fellow wine buff, Maya(Virginia Madsen) while Jack fancies her mate, Stephanie(Sandra Oh).

But Miles still dwells on his failed marriage and career -much to Jack's frustration.Although there are no big name stars, this is a must-see movie full of great lines as we follow the two men towards a joint mid-life crisis.

Fruity, with hidden depths and a wonderful aftertaste.
