I was impressed by Amish's Shiva trilogy. That made me read Scion of Ikshvaku. Though I knew it is based on known story of Ramayan, I expected it to be interesting. The first couple of chapters are okay to read. But then on, it took me hours to finish one chapter. It has too much explanations even for the known(and which had already been explained in Shiva trilogy) meanings that I had to skip lots of lines. I know this book also targets foreign readers.
But, I think most of the foreigners are familiar with Indian terms now a days. I still have four more chapters to read in this book. If you have the patience, it will be easy for you to finish the book.
