Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir. Review on Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, Varanasi

Since Banaras is my second home, I frequently visit Sankat Mochan Hanuman Mandir whenever in Banaras. This one of the oldest temple in Banaras situated in small shrub forest and of great religious importance.  People regularly visit this temple particularly on Tuesday and Saturday is a must.

Statue of Lord Hanuman is always covered with Red Vermilion. We put this vermilion on their forehead as blessing of Hanuman Ji. People from far flung areas come to this temple. On both days, thousand of devotees gather in temple and perform Parikrama and put vermilion on their forehead. Prasad of laddoos and  Peda(a kind of sweet made of milk) with Tulsi leaves of this temple is famous and  offered to Hanuman Ji.

Monkeys around the temple are so familiar with the devotee that they ask for the prasada. They never harm the devotees but some time they snatched Prasad from people. Annual cultural festival is also organized by the Sankat Mochan Trust in the temple campus. This temple is very popular and important of temples circuit of Banaras. This is a must visit temple for the Lord Hanuman devotees.
