I tasted and drank Royal challenge whiskey when my friend introduced me to the brand.I never tried Royal challenge whiskey.When I tried whiskey it was fine with soda.It diluted well and taste was not dominant on pallete.
After drinking whiskey I had bad hangover and sore throat which was not common as whiskey doesn’t affect throat like vodka or white rum.So I did some research about Royal challenge whiskey and found out, That the whiskey is based on Dark rum.Young whiskey is added to Dark rum to get color of whiskey.
Royal challenge is molases whiskey as they primary ingridient is Dark rum which is made from molases and Molases is based drinks tend to give harsh headache.
Royal challenge is not typically a which it’s blend of Dark rum and whiskey, which is why it is available at low price.It can not be essentially classified as whiskey as it is not made from grain but rather its made of molases based rum.
If you are tight on budget then its a good spirit, But will suggest to go for better grain whiskey.
