I expected a master piece form Chetan Bhagat but it turned out to be a depressing story. The beginning of the story was awesome, the way the writer describes the life of Gopal is quite relatable to every average Indian student who had a crush on his classmate Aarti. the girl first hates Gopal but eventually they both become best friends. Just as every other story they start to have feelings for each other.
Gopal leaves Varanasi and moves to Kota for his JEE preparation for a few years. But Aarti in the mean time falls in love with Raghav who is also a friend of Gopal. Gopal goes through a lot of Troubles and finally establishes an engineering college with the help of a local MLA. As the story goes on Gopal wins Aarti back, but when the time of their marriage comes he understands that he is not a correct match for her and thus bluffs her. He anonymously helps Raghav get a job and lets Aarti marry him. The story ends in a tragedy, despite being a good man Gopal doubts himself and the story ends. This part made me upset and I felt like this is not the perfect ending.
