Even with strong financial backing Reliance Fresh has failed at many locations, specially in Tamil Nadu. Not sure if the top management reviewed the performances in TN to identify the reasons for its failure. From a consumer poit of view, I feel the following reasons conyributed to the failure of Reliance Fresh in TN:
Quality of staff - this is a major issue with Reliance. Probably they pay a low salary and get low quality staff(if you pay peanuts, you will get monkeys!). No commitment or helping tendency with the staff - they behave as if they work for a panchayat office, not at a corporate company.
Delay at billing counter - many times the bar code scanner doesnt work and they have to manually feed the code. Reliance shoukd send its staf to Dubai, specially to LuLu Hypermarket to watch how efficient the billing system is.
Too congested - you cannot fill up the whole store with goods without enough space for the customers to move around. If the space is limited then contrl qty you stock.
Vegetables and Fruits - not fresh. Unsold old stock must be cleared every day.
These are some issues which the Reliance management may like to address.
