Me and my husband wanted to go to a different and very quiet holiday destination.....not the so famous Nainital ,Mussourie but instead we decided and zeroed in on Ranikhet .It was early September and the drive to Ranikhet was beautifull.A small military cantonment amidst heavy pine forests Ranikhet is the most romantic place I have been to so far.
Certainly not recommended if you like the hustle bustle of a commercialised hill station but definately if you are just wanting to spend some quality time with your partner. The resorts are located in the middle of the pine and deodar forests nad most of them remind you of the colonial british era with large fire places in the rooms. .Wake up to the most spectacular view of the himalayas and enjoy your early morning teas listening to the chirping of the birds.Well there are no great markets around but go for long evening walks on the the narrow roads through the pine forests. The air is clean ,crisp and the quietness here is very very soothing .Ranikhet is supposed to have the best weather around the year .Just enter Ranikhet and just forget that busy life styles and work schedules that all of us are into in todays world instead just switch off your mobile and shut yourself out from the rest of the world.Imagine your self playing badminton in a small court surrounded by snow covered mountains and no sound except that of your cheering or laughing and the chirping of the birds. The food here is delicious and dont forget to try some pahari gosht and pahari dal.Carry a good bottle of Cognac and enjoy a drink in the company of your partner sitting next to the fireplace.Well thats quite romantic isn't it .......
Go to Ranikhet if you are a romantic like me and enjoy the nature in its most comfortable and natural form.
