Im May 2009 I flew from Washington dc to Calicut, India. I chose it because of being able to go directly to Calicut from IAD via Doha.
I found the leg from Washington DC to Doha to be well catered and hosted. Flight from Doha to Calicut was nothing great. The inflight entertainment was a common tv. The food was lousy.
The vegetarian meal is the pits when compared to th non veg. If you order asian veg meal, you do not get any desserts/snacks/biscuits/cremes/pastries!
My carry on luggage was small, but I had some valuables in it. Just before boarding the flight from Doha to calicut, I was told I would have to give it up and will have to collect it with the rest of my checked in luggage upon arrival. luckily I had a small bag into which I threw in all the valuables and gave them the carry on suitcase.
I might fly it for the convenience of having a flight go from IAD to Calicut .
