Story:

This is a must read. Push is narrated by Claireece Precious Jones a pregnant teenager living in New York City in the 1980's. The novel is unique is several ways.

The first thing you notice is the language. The dialect is different. It's misspelled purposely. Precious is illiterate. She tells her story as she learns how to write. She spells in the way that she pronounces words. The second thing that is noticed is its rawness. "Mrs Lichenstein look at me like I got three arms or a bad odor coming out my pu*sy. or something."

If you can get pass these distinctive differences then prepare yourself for an astounding tale of hardship and perseverance.

This novel explores parental sexual abuse, illiteracy, shame, isolation and innocence. It's a fast read. I really couldn't put the book down. This book has been recently made into a movie check out the link here: https://imdb.com/title/tt0929632/
