We had the Popstars series in Australia also and I found it was quite good light entertainment. The show is about finding 5 people with singing and dancing talents to form the Popstars band. Each week, candidates are given their chance to show what they can do, and the judges select their finalists each week. The finalists are put through a more intensive week of singing and dancing lessons and the final 5 are finally chosen.
Alot of people don't like this show, but I find it interesting to see what talent is actually out there, and to watch the processes of selecting who the judges consider are the 5 best singers who would work well together as a band.
In Australia we have had 2 series, and I personally think both bands which resulted from the Pop Stars series are great. They are all very talented.
If you don't enjoy these newer real life serials, then you probably won't enjoy this one. But I liked it, and never missed a single week of the series while it was on.
