What would you expect from a resort just a few meters from the Konkan coast with a lovely white sand beach and a fabulous view of the sunset? Paradise? We booked a room at the Paradise Isle Beach Resort anticipating the same, but were terribly disappointed.
The location
While the location was perfect, there were not many signboards pointing to the resort. However, the locals were very helpful and pointed to the right direction. The view was excellent and the ambiance of the resort was great.
The rooms
We booked a couple of cottages, hoping for a bit of privacy during the holiday. However, we were shocked to find that each cottage consisted of four smaller units. As it was late in the afternoon and we were eager to go to the beach, we decided to ignore this issue. The rooms were OK, but smelled terrible. The bathroom didn't have a tub, which was a shock considering the tariff charged. In one bathroom, the shower was not working. Repeated requests for a mug fell on deaf ears.
The amenities
The brochure promised a lot of activities. The kids play area had only a swing and slide. Others were broken. The swimming pool had no water. Staff claimed it was undergoing maintenance. They promised water sports, which were not available in the evening. Ultimately, we went to the beach and used the public water sports available there.
Food
The hotel promised complimentary breakfast, which was surprisingly good. It was a south Indian breakfast. The watermelon juice was fresh and excellent. The staff there were helpful. We asked for milk for the child, which they provided with just 15-minutes delay.
Checkout
Checkout was speedy and we had no problems. The receptionist in the morning was pleasant. He asked us to visit again, which we definitely won't!
