Doctor: Dr Sapna Lulla

On 4/1/2017 evening around 8PM my wife was admitted to Ovum Hospital. Due date was on 9/1/2017 but as my wife's blood pressure was around 130/90 from last 2 to 3 weeks also there was very less labor pain compared to due date given. So doctor asked us to get admitted so that they can induce the labor pain. After admitting to hospital normal test procedures were carried out like monitoring fetus heart beat(i don't remember medical term), blood test etc.

Around 11 PM doctor asked myself and my brother to meet them in there consultation room. During discussion doctor explained that my wife's CRP(measure of infection) is around 21 and there is no sign of any fever also WBC count is also reduced to 91K from 1.2Lakh compared to 2 week back reading. So doctor told that morning around 6 AM they will again run both tests, if WBC count is constant then we can wait till next day 12 NOON for normal delivery else morning it self we will carry out C-section for the safety of mother and baby.

Morning tests confirmed WBC count dropped to 65K, so doctor immediately performed C-Section and baby boy was born. Before birth baby passed meuconium and same was consumed by baby. Meuconium had entered babies lungs already so baby was admitted to NICU immediately after c-section. Baby was treated for around 7 to 8 days in NICU and discharged. Now baby is doing very well and we are happy and proud parents.

This review is actually not for hopital neither for doctor, you can find very good review about both in Google as well as Practo.

We are also immensely satisfied with Hospital support staff and doctors.

This review is for those who thinks doctor simply force to opt for c-section instead of normal delivery. Even in this time of advanced medical equipments, medical imaging doctors still largely have to depend on their experiance and gutt feling. As I have seen in my wife's case, out of 40 weeks till 38 week everything was fine. Doctor was also 100% confident of normal delivery. Only after c-section doctor find out umblical cord was tangled in babies leg and throat so it was pulling back baby from descending down. That is why labour pain did not increased over the time. There was no way to find out if umblical cord is tangled or not just from ultarsound.

So all these limitation makes doctor's work very tough. That is why whenever doctor take some decision it is for good of both mother and baby and nothing else.

Docor informed us they had encountered similar case after 2 days where patient's husband was not ready to go for c-section but doctor insisted and performed c-section at morning 2AM infornt of husband. In that case also baby passed meuconium but it was not late so baby was not yet consumed meuconium. So baby was safe and husband also confessed his mistake.

Conclusion is it is good to read online documents to gain some knowledge but using that knowledge we should not question doctor's decision. Hope this information may help other people.
