My association with orkut is not very old, but it has become an integral part of my social & emotional well-being. Being a single working woman and staying alone in a metro used to force me into occassional bouts of depression and loneliness. I needed a community/friend circle to interact with on daily basis to destress myself. In order to do so I had little option as I knew noone apart from my colleagues in this big city and little time to go out and befriend people.
One day someone introduced me to Orkut, and merged with lakhs of other 'orkuttians' in few days. I even found a few long lost old friends and made new friendships with many fellow like-minded orkutians. I became parts of many communities ranging from a cooking community to the community of Advertising professionals of India, from the community of Sachin tendulkar's fans to India-Pakistan friendship community. It gave me a scope to interact with people from all over the world with different cultures, hobbies, interests and give me a sense of belonging to the ever-changing global trends.
Thanks to Orkut
