I used to be an avid Orange fan until very recently I got a rude shock. It was a wake-up call of sorts. I put in a complaint about the fact that nowhere has Orange publicised the fact that after the change in cellular rates what is the status of roaming charges.


I seriuosly think that the competition from the WLL operators is catching up with them and they are slipping up on service. Even the helpline service of Orange which used to be such a pleasure experience is now worsening. In my last 2 calls I have had to wait for close to 10 mins before someone coming on the line.


And recently I put in a query about how Reliance is so cheap compared to the roaming facility of GSM operators, I get a call from someone in their office who says, but they are doing it illegally and we will close them down. And when I ask him why is it that you do not tell customers the fact that roaming charges are different in their ads and various communication and only advertise about call rates from home base, he said ''But your complain was only about our rates vs Reliance rates and I have answered that''. Wow! So much for service.


Incidentally the service locally is also deteriorating. To earlier instances when I never used to miss calls, there are various instances when people are not aboe to get across to me.


I hope someone from Orange reads this and treat this like a wake up call......
