I would like to keep the review short and to the point. I have been using the Nokia N70 for the past 4-5 months. I bought this phone for around 16k in Pune. Below are my observations abt this phone:
Although a part of the N series, there is not much difference between this and the Nokia6600 or 7710. The only differences are the 2MP dual camera and the internal phone memory. Other than these two features almost everything is similar to the previous version.
Looks wise, the phone has a very professional look. It is also very sturdy.
Photo quality is good, thanks to the 2MP lens. The phone also has a flash but the photo quality at night is not that good. Video quality during the day is also very good. Never tried video at night.
The phone is very very slow to use. If you start multiple apps, then it becomes even slower and eventually you have to reboot the phone. I read somewhere that this is a Symbian OS issue. The newer versions of the Symbian OS do not have this problem, but they are not supplied with the N70.
There are problems with the firmware too. I am using the firmware version 5.0638.3.0.1. Sometimes the phone does not register missed calls. At times when making calls the sound quality drops very badly and you start hearing hollow voices. You need to disconnect and redial again.
Talktime and standby time are also not that good. Standby time is around 2 days max with normal usage and talktime is around 3-4 hrs.
I would recommend that you give a good thought before buying this phone. You should look at other Sony Ericsson and Motorola models and then compare and buy.
