Story:

The original revue was accidently erased due to a malfunction caused by MS on 12 August 2003. I hadn't saved it in any form. Here is the outline of the book:

Kenneth Anderson (1917-1974) was born and brought up in India where he died at the age of 56 of cancer. He wrote 8 books altogether.

This is Anderson's very first Book.

First published by George Allen and Unwin Ltd, London in 1954, in hardcover with photo plates and maps, and have been reprinted several times since. A recent paperback reprint of this book without photographs or maps was made in India by Rupa.

Nine Man eaters contains the following chapters

  1. The Man eater of Jowlagiri

  2. The Spotted Devil of Gummalapur

  3. The Striped Terror of Chamala Valley

  4. The Hosdurga- Holalkere Man eater

  5. The Rogue Elephant of Panapatti

  6. The Man eater of Segur

  7. The Man eater of Yemmaydoddi

  8. The Killer of Jalahalli

  9. The Hermit of Devarayandurga

  10. Byra- The Poojaree

  11. The Tigers of Tagarthy

The book details the hunting episodes of several man eating tigers and leopards that roamed the Southern Indian Jungles of Mysore, Madras, Hyderabad and northern Malabar as well as hunting a rogue elephant.

Anderson was equally fascinated with snakes. While young, he used to bring live snakes in his pocket and release them among the unsuspected students, especially female students to see the excitement in full, earning him the nickname 'Snake Anderson' which stuck till the end.

To buy an original edition, illustrated with photographs and maps , with dustjacket and in very good condition may cost upto $75.00. The paperback Indian edition by Rupa is available for Rs. 150.
