Hello, everyone! I'm relieved to find a group like this. My experience with Nestaway has been a nightmare too. I own a house in one of the most reputed apartments in Whitefield, which is an IT hub in Bangalore. My family resides in Mumbai. In 2016, I received a call from Nestaway explaining their concept and convincing me that it's the best option for a flat owner.

They found tenants for me without conducting a proper background check. They quickly transferred 1 lakh as a security deposit into my account, which convinced me to proceed. Additionally, we paid them 1.8 lakhs for furniture, including 5 single beds, a sofa, tables and chairs.

I have transaction proof for both payments.

Within 6 months, one of the tenants got us involved in a police enquiry. The society also raised complaints against the tenants for late-night partying and leaving beer bottles outside the flat, among other issues.

We had to take immediate action to avoid getting caught up in a police investigation. We contacted Nestaway to get the house vacated as soon as possible. They were extremely uncooperative, and we had to escalate the matter to the country manager for intervention. I personally called each tenant to request a prompt departure. Since I didn't need the furniture they provided, I asked them to take it back. I received confirmation from all tenants that they handed over the keys to Nestaway before leaving.

When we arrived in Bangalore, the house was vacant but in a very dirty condition. A Nestaway representative handed over the keys to us. However, THERE WAS NO FURNITURE IN THE HOUSE. We assumed they had taken it away, so we didn't bother following up for the 8000 rupees, given the bad experience. We just wanted to get rid of them and never contacted them again.

Now, after 7 years in 2023, they suddenly call me to claim that I owe them 1 lakh! They allege that they didn't take the furniture back, so the deposit money is still due.

I am completely shocked! I have never heard of anything more bizarre. They are threatening legal action if I don't pay, after 7 years? I don't remember the name or designation of the person who handed over the keys to us, but one of the tenants confirmed witnessing the furniture being moved out by Nestaway.

Is anyone else facing this kind of harassment? I had to request the society to dig out the old outgoing vehicles report for March 2016. I am prepared to file a complaint against them for harassing me and causing stress to me and my family.
