Napster is the most innovative thing to hit the music world. I discovered Napster in December of '99, and have been downloading songs like crazy. It is very easy to use, and can find hundreds of people who have the song you want. It also tells you the connection of the user that has the requested song. For example, If you would search for a song called ''Mouthshut.com'' it would come up with 100s of people with the song. Users that have very high connections (cable, T1, T3, etc.) have a green dot, normal connections (33k and 56k) have yellow dots, and slower connections have red dots (14k and down, plus unknown connections). The only downside to Napster is know the filtering technology they are forced to use by the courts. It filters out just about all the songs, but people got smart and renamed the files so they could slip by the filter. People are switching the letters around, adding letters, and even going as far as to use Pig Latin. So even though they have the filters, you can still get the songs you want, all for FREE!!!
