Micromax A85 is a poor quality phone.
I have several complaints.
Speaker phone volume is too low.
Microphone is of substandard quality. The person on the other end always complains of not being able to hear you.
GPS does not work unless you are in the open air
Once it goes into sleep mode, never becomes active, unless you power it off or reboot
Battery drains in less than 6 hours
Screen goes on and off without any reasons
Sometimes outgoing calls cannot be made for unknown reasons
Worse is the service quality. Not all service centres of Micromax accept this phone. I had to give the phone to Thane centre which is one of the two service centres in whole of Greater Mumbai, who accept this phone. Strangely, even they send it to Gurgaon for service! Handing over the phone to service centre is like feeding it to black hole. I was asked to directly follow-up with Delhi centre through a call centre. The call centre personnel do not have any information about the phone. The standard response is, “we need one week to respond”! After lot of chasing and accessing the service centre from back door, I got the phone back, after one full month. The phone received was no different in its performance than what it was before, except that I had lost all the data since it has been formatted by the service centre!
I would strongly recommend prospective buyers to avoid Micromax.
