I had taken a matrix card for my trip to the US for 30 days in 2010. The sales guy sold me a basic voice services plan for Rs. 1600 per month. He assured me data services were not active.


I used the phone sparingly during my stay there ( voice services only). At the end of the month however, I received a bill for an astronomical amount of Rs. 1.6 Lakhs! The itemised bill was 5 pages long and claimed that I had used data services every half hour round the clock every day ( $4 charged in the interval of every 30 mins, with similar KB usage, 24 hours a day, every day!!).


All this when data services were not active on my phone, and I obviously was not receiving any emails or internet notifications.


I called the Sales rep. and he seemed utterly shocked as well, apologized and said he would fix the error on the company's part immediately. Since then I have written to practically every team in Matrix, but nothing has happened (except for flimsily stating the charges are true).


The team has been extremely unprofessional and have used a number of arm twisted tactics on us (I am now seeking legal resolution in the matter). It has been a terrible experience - the sales guys make promises the company cannot deliver upon, the customer service team is clueless, and the legal & collection team  the worst kind of people to deal with.


This is just to WARN everyone of this fraudulent company and their modus operandi of charging customers falsely (I know of other people who have suffered the same fate as well). HORRIBLE company and worst experience! And just btw, there are other travel cards there that are available at half the cost in the US!

We agree that the bill of Rs 1.6 lacs for data is a lot and no customer would be happy to pay for it.
Since the issue relates to the connection availed in 2010 we would appreciate if you may share the email correspondence you would have had with Matrix on this issue.
