If you have a camera that uses compact Flash card. Get yourself a PCMCIA adaptor that takes the CF card. Plug into one of the PCMCIA slot on your laptop. As an external drive, you can use the file exploration to copy all the pic files to your hard disk first.
There are a few manufacturer making these adaptor.
After that you can reformat the CF card so that it is ready fro the next photo taking session.
