My lunch at Mainland China on Church Street was as close to perfection as it gets.Had made a reservation so got a table easy but the place got full real fast so am glad I had called up for a reservation earlier. The menu was elobrate, the music soothing and the ambience was just perfect. The entrance looks onto the street where you see a flowering tree which would not look out of place in a painting. We guys ordered a few mocktails and snacks. I had a look at the buffet and just couldn't resist not eating it.The service was a bit passable but you cant call it bad.The buffet had its own set of Soup and snacks which included Wantons. You are also served Chinese-Teas if ask for it. The pickled cabage that you get was too good. God alone knows I could have eatent the whole bowl myself. The buffet consisted of the veg and the non-beg section, each included about 3 dishes, a rice dish and a noodles dish each. There was lots of other stuff too besides the salad and pickled cabbage a served at ur table. The buffet table had Prawn Crispies, Pepper paste, a whole bunch of sauces - just love loads of tiny accompaniments.Well theres dessert also... that too oriental style. You have lots of options here too.You may go for Darsaan (honey fired flat noodles coated with sesame), ice-cream, pineapple wantons anyone ? or for the fruit buffs - fresh Watermelon. (slurp!!)Hang on the best part is yet to come. When you leave, you get this thin strip of ginger with powdered sugar. That was awesome.. too good!!The lunch at the emperors court was just perfect.
