This is a long term review. I have been using my Scorpio CRDE for almost 4 years. Have done 36, 000 km and am quite happy in general. On the plus side - great street presence, smooth and powerful engine, reliable, good a/c, decent fuel efficiency. On the minus side - interior space is cramped, rear suspension is not great, body roll is pronounced when you change direction.I have had only one negative experience in use: the clutch assembly failed around at 30, 000 km and had to be replaced. Cost me 8k in parts and labour. That apart, the car is very reliable.
On highways, you have to be careful of instability during sudden turns(over 100 kph). Straight line performance is very good, and braking is sufficient(would not say it is great).
The biggest positive in my view is its high value-for-money quotient. If I had to go for an SUV again in the Rs 10 lac range, I would go for a Scorpio. But this time, the 6-speed automatic CRDE!
