Mohd. Azharuddin,Azha, as he was known among his cricket fans,once ruled the roost, when he burst upon the cricketing test scene with 3 centuries in a row.He was a delight to watch, especially, the flicks off his wrist on the leg side.He'd also won few games for India by his scintillating batting.He was always an excellent fielder & had taken many a good catches. In the first phase of his career he was dependable,always contributing to the team effort.
The scenario started changing once Captaincy was thrust on him. Suddenly he found, ''stardom''& lot of media attention & focus.Power started taking a new hold on him.He was always not a good communicator & his stand alone attitude gave one the impression that he was not assertive & communicative on the field. Thenwe started hearing strange things about him-his lavish lifestyle-penchant for designer clothes, estrangement with his wife,getting married to SangitaBijalani,getting entangled with underworld dons at Sharjah -match fixing or rigging/accepting bribes has shocked the entire cricketing world including,cricketer of repute like Allan Border.Azha,what happened to you?
