I was in Kurukshetra from 2011 to 2014 for my graduation from Kurukshetra university. My first impression of Kurukshetra was very holistic. It is the city where the great war of Mahabharata happened. Approximately in the middle of city there is Braham sarovar Which has a very holy place in Hindu religion.
There are various kunds built in Braham sarovar and in between kunds there is beautiful lake like water bodies which increases it's beauty very much. The best time to travel Kurukshetra is December when every year a festival named Geeta jayanti is celebrated.
Kessel mall is the only mall of Kurukshetra. It is not as big as the malls in metropolitan cities but you will find everything useful in this mall. There is also a Glitz theatre where you can watch latest movies.
Kurukashetra had very connectivity through trains and buses. You can take buses to Delhi from Pipli( which is on highway) 24* 7.
There are lot of dharamshalas in Kurukshetra to stay and they charge minimal price for nights stay. There are number of dharamshala like Jaat, Gurjar, Pradhan etc. I personally liked the gurjar dharmshala. Its rooms are very spacious clean with AC rooms also avalaible there.
If you like to explore religious places and want a real taste of a historic holy city then Kurukshetra should be on your bucket list.
