kodaikanal is a really beautiful place.. .an ideal for honeymoon couples. I still cherish the memories that i'll never forget.. .and I mean it. I liked the pleasant weather a lot... my stay was for 2 days 1 night only, which was just not sufficient... I of course wanted to stay more. u should make plans to stay at least for 2 nights when u go there. u can't spend much time in sightseeing, coz all places looked similar only, especially the points from different hills... all were the same. if u take a cab, it will take around 3 hours for total sightseeing. but just roaming there would be a good fun too. you can do a little shopping also.
i stayed at the hotel sivupriya, which is a very good hotel. they charged around 800/- for one day,and it was a good deal for me, bcoz I saw lots of hotels, which were charging around 600 or 700, and they were not even closer to this hotel as far as ambience is concerned. this looks much much better. the food is not that tasty at this hotel, so u may want to go out and have it.
Beware of this :-
you'll get many agents on the bus stand, which will flock around u, and propose to show u different hotels at reasonable rates.. etc but when u board their vehicle, and u don't choose the hotel, they insist that you pay them money ( good amount) for showing the hotels. so, its better to book ur hotel before going there.
second point, if u book a taxi, make sure u don't give much money in advance to these travel agents. they may not appear the next day! also, it will take around 550/- for taking a local cab. agents may try to fool u to get more money. its better u enquire at the hotel where u'll be staying about the cab. they can arrange that for u.
one travel agent that really cheated me was Kartikfrom SRI DURGA travels, which took money in advance from me, and never showed up the next day. moreover, he was trying to charge double the amount for sightseeing. the mobile no. given on the receipt always shows No Reply.
beware of these kind of guys, they may spoil ur stay. I had to arrange another travel immediately.
