I flew with KLM once from Bangkok to Amsterdam in 2012.
KLM is very active on the social network. There are "Meet and Seat" which you can choose the person who will sit next to you.The quality of the catering is good. The entertainment is good. However, you will not see much of the crew diversity. KLM's fare is relatively cheaper compared to most european airlines. You might want to try KLM if you want to go some unusual cities in Europe as KLM's european network is quite extensive(more than 45 cities in Europe and 12 cities in the UK, and the transit at Schiphol is likely to be seamless( Best European Airport as of 2013)
At Schiphol, you have to drop the bags yourself in the automated cage. However, Schiphol is a good place for last minute shopping( I recommend you buy perfume and wine here, I looked everything, and it is still cheaper to buy here). One thing that might be a deal breaker is the seating. The space on 777-200ER was quite OK but the one in 777-300ER was very very small. The configuration on 777-300ER was 3-4-3. The total number of seats in economy class is 370 seats.
For overall rating, KLM is quite reliable airline. I recommend you try KLM if you fly into the Netherlands for the first time. From my experience, the Dutch immigration made less troubles with you if you fly their flag carrier.
Anyway, it is cheap and it arrives on time.
