Originality:

One of my all time favorite albums. Michael Hutchence was the enigmatic genius which made INXS the biggest news from down under ( Kylie’s rear and Russel’s act don’t come any close). Sadly he is the third in my trilogy of greats who left us early.

INXS was a perfect marriage of Pop and Rock, a rare act which believed in melody. Wonderful use of silence and pause in songs made their songs huge hits across the world.

Some of my favorite songs from the album Kick:

“Need you tonight” : is the naughty Hutchence, flirting and seducing the woman he loves. The song is a lovely blend of pop and funk rock, sounds like a prince song. Hutchence vocals are brilliant.

So slide over here

And give me a moment

Your moves are so raw

I've got to let you know

I've got to let you know

You're one of my kind

“Never Tear Us Apart” : This is a love Sick Ballad. Probably one of the greatest. Done with a big opera, philaharmonic orchestra feel, this one is for all of us who are truly madly deeply in love. Hutchence shows the great strength of his vocals here, the music is brilliant and the silence is used like in no other song. Simple lyrics, a true lovers song, one of my all time favorites.

Don't ask me

What you know is true

Don't have to tell you

I love your precious heart

I

I was standing

You were there

Two worlds collided

And they could never tear us apart

Michael Hutchence was a genius and inspired a lot of young artists. He will be remembered for the magic he produced on stage and his songs will remain as his memories for ever.
