Story

Visually impaired couple Rohan Bhatnagar ( Hrithik) and Supriya Sharma ( Yami) are madly in love with each other. They get hitched and try to light up each other's lives. But their dark world gets worse when Supriya is raped by the Rich and the powerful. Policemen also don't respond to blind man's bluff. So Rohan who is left with no other choice takes the law into his hands and gets revenge for Supriya.

Star Performance

Kaabil is a Sanjay Gupta film, and in his films, the perfection cannot last for too long. The highlight of the film is Hrithik’s bravura performance. He is vulnerable as a lover and menacing as a killing machine. Half a star in the movie-rating is reserved for his all-time best performance here. Yami provides the perfect foil, subtle and super-effective. Both the actor's chemistry has worked fantastically in Kaabil. Rest of the cast too did justice to their roles. Especially the ruthless and menacing villains out there have done an impeccable job.

Techinical Team

The film’s music, despite the retreaded Haseeno Ka Deewana and Kissi se Pyaar Ho Jaaye, fails to actually stay with you for long. Urvashi Rautela’s sizzling dance number probably will. The technical side is made phenomenally. Thanks to with masters like Sudeep Chatterjee ( camera) and Resul Pookutty( sound) . However Rajesh Roshan’s yesteryear hits saara zamana and dil kya karen in their remixed avatars are pale imitations of their original versions. Resul has done an amazing work in the movie and his work is appreciatable.

Analysis

Kaabil is a formula film the likes of which director Gupta and producer Rakesh Roshan have tried time and again. It seems to be inspired by Hollywood’s Blind Fury and Korean hit Broken, the film pits its blind protagonist as a man on a mission, out to destroy the people who have destroyed him. Yami has acted well and has proved her individuality. The movie has shades of Hollywood's Blind Fury ( 1989) . But still the revenge drama is best in it's unique manner.

Bottom Line:

'Kaabil' is Subtle, adept and Super Effective
