Today I watched Kannada film actor and director Sudeep's first original story narration "Just Math Mathalli."

The movie opens with a really cool title song with a really cool lyrics, which is kinda really really new for a Kannada movie and its songs from my point of view. Hats off for Raghu Dixit and Sudeep for getting this innovation into the Kannada Movie Industry. Coming back to the movie, the story takes off well by Sudeep's character "Sid" short for "Siddharth" narrating his story to a guy named Adi, played by actor Rajesh, his co-passenger on a flight to Singapore, as Mr. Adi, who is told be a script writer himself, and for some odd reason is going to Singapore to get married there to girl named “Nandini, ” who wants to make an "interesting love story" based movie, but till now he hasn't found a good story. Sid narrates a story of him meeting a girl named "Tanu, " played by Kannada film actress Ramya, full form of her name is not detailed till the climax of the movie, at certain holiday spots and some misunderstanding between them develops from the start. They both then meet again at a railway station, where she misses the train and blames everyone around there for it, which reminds one of a similar character named "Geet" played by Bollywood actress Kareena Kapoor in the October 2007 super hit movie "Jab We Met." The railway station situation develops similar to that of "Jab We Met, " which is certain circumstances lead the pair to spend two days together on a railway platform where the protagonist saves the lady from bad guys at the station, but it has its own originality to it. Right after it the Tanu starts developing feelings for him, which is left unsaid at first, but after some time when Sid moves to Tanu's house, Tanu proposes to him, which Sid turns down by saying "NO" and he doesn't even say why, either. Of course, she too doesn't bother to ask why, either.

Cut to the present, Sid tells his "FLASHBACK" twist part of the story now to Adi, his co-passenger in a Singapore flight, as the reason why he said "NO" to Tanu, which happens about three years ago I think, where Sid, a lead singer in an unnamed rock band, who does not get emotionally involved with girls who profess their love for him. But when Divya, played by actress Keerthi Gowda, commits suicide after he rejects her love, Siddharth introspects on his attitude towards love. Later on emotionally distant Sid has a change of heart and attitude and decides to woo Tanu, the woman who once loved him, back into his life. He goes in search of Tanu's house in Coorg, where it is revealed that they all have shifted back to Singapore, the reason for which is unclear, and they are now settled there. He tells Adi that the reason he is going to Singapore is to find Tanu and confess his feelings to her. Adi is emotionally touched by Sid's story and promises to help him find Tanu in Singapore and even promises him a happy ending.

The search for Tanu and Adi's marriage track make up most of the second half of the movie. But Siddharth is in for a shock when he meets Adi's bride Nandini at his wedding. The second part of the movie drags a bit and at times boring with its twists and turns and with dialogues too at times, and probably one can predict what "Tanu's" full name is by now, which is not revealed clearly in the first half, and the climax sequence may not be appeal much, though it is well narrated.

After viewing all the pros and cons the direction and the dialogues can be said as just okay. This is also probably a one-time watch movie from my point of view for its innovative script and songs, as the story gets very predictable and boring towards the end.
