A Good car with Bad Service. Review on Jeep Compass

The Jeep Compass is an exceptional vehicle to drive, and as my first car, I would rate it highly without considering other options. I am based in Chennai, and I can confirm that this positive driving experience is consistent across India. However, while the driving experience is impressive, the after-sales service and ownership experience in India present significant challenges.

Servicing a Jeep Compass can be a frustrating experience, even for minor issues. Most FCA(Fiat Chrysler Automobiles) mechanics lack adequate training to accurately read and interpret car diagnostic error codes, with only a few exceptions. This often leads to misdiagnosed issues and improper repairs, resulting in recurring minor errors. Additionally, spare parts are not readily available, and even when obtained, repairs may not be executed correctly.

Service centers are limited to select Tier-1 cities, making it nearly impossible to have your vehicle serviced at a reputable, branded workshop in other locations. Upgrading the Jeep Compass is also challenging due to the unavailability of aftermarket accessories in India. For instance, adding fog lights to a variant that does not include them can be extremely difficult, if not impossible.

Moreover, the cost of genuine Jeep Compass parts is exorbitantly high. For example, a pair of original front wiper blades costs over ₹;9, 000(excluding taxes), whereas high-quality alternatives from reputable brands like Bosch are available for ₹;2, 000₹;3, 000, including taxes.
