Watching movies is great! Watching good movies is even better. Watching movies with other people is good, but watching it with people who tell you "The movie looked like it was copied from Transformers" when its not or "I liked Transformers better because there was action throughout and in this one the hero only flew twice" is really pathetic because they have missed the point of the story! What's worse is that you have to be nice to them and forgive their ignorance that **this is a Superhero movie** from the **Marvel Comics **stable. The only decent thing to do at this point is to convince yourself that its their life and they have a right to live it the way they want to and move on with it. Sometimes you have to accept people for who they are and to let them embarrass you in public by taking pictures with the Hulk caricatures in the lobby and think its cool too - **Thankfully the movie was worth all this embarrassment!
The movie is rated** PG-13** for some intense sequences of sci-fi action and violence, and brief suggestive content. My company was rated - Loud and Obnoxious!
If this movie were the **Batman **series, it would be Batman Begins as the movie shows you how **IronMan**(IM from now on - I too am getting lazy like Abha) was born. **Flamboyant, egomaniac, womaniser, careless, reckless and a genius! **These are some of the adjectives that aptly describe wealthy industrialist **Tony Stark **- The owner of **Stark Industries **that makes **weapons **for the **US Government**. During a demonstration of the latest new "**Jericho**" **missile **for the military, **Tony **is kidnapped by **militants **and is held captive. During the ambush, pieces of shrapnel enter his body and he nearly dies. A friend removes the big pieces of the shrapnel, but some of them are still left in Tony's body. An **electromagnet **powered by a **car-battery **is what's stopping these fragments from entering his heart and killing him. Ironically, this is what gives genius **Tony **an **idea**! When asked to build the Jericho Missile for the **insurgents**, he uses the **hi-tech plasma electromagnet **to power an **Ironsuit **and escape from the cave where he was held captive - **Voila Ironman!** But not before he sees that the weapons his company had built to protect freedom of the American public were also being sold to terrorists to kill people - Good for business, but not in **Tony Stark's **books!
After this transformation of his mindset, he returns back home and perfects the suit to protect the people being killed by his bombs and thus is born a superhero!
But the people in Tony's company supplying the bombs to the enemies dont want a reformed Tony interfering with business. They also want to get their hands on the latest'weapon' developed by Tony and use it for their selfish agenda. For them war is good because it means better profits
Will they be successful in stealing the technology from Tony? Who are these people? Is Tony's transformation true? You know what to do to know the answers.
*I liked the movie **- I liked it a lot - because for once, a superhero movie did not involve rescuing women who are attracted to the main character of the movie! The superhero did not have to fight with his own self too much and be confused like Spiderman and evoke pity from the audience. **IM** was **direct, strong will-ed and packed a punch using technology**. All this was captured well in the movie and was presented eloquently. The **graphics are stunning** to say the least - especially the parts where the suit development was shown. The **combat between IM and the fighter jets was nail-biting, ** as was the moment when IM was testing the suit and faced a problem in mid-flight.
The **director Jon Favreau** has successfully made the **comic book come alive on the big-screen without resorting to animation -** The graphics look very realistic and believable **-** I can see the **movie scoring high on hard-core comic book fans** because **justice done to their cult**. The **music score by Ramin Djawadi** suits the character and gives him a strong backing and is very convincing to me that IM packs a punch!*
What was better about this movie is that it showed the **hero dealing with his limitations quickly** and was shown to be **thinking on his feet**! This - what I feel - is **IM's** USP and I loved it. The story made the viewer **laugh**, it made them **anxious**, it made them **feel good** when the character made right choices and kept them at the **edge of their seat** when acting on an impulse, Tony Stark **romanced** his secretary during an **impromptu dance** routine. The audience could **relate to the character well thru the movie** and could **feel connected to the story**.
The romantic interest in the movie was kept light and minimal. Sure there are some bedroom scenes early on in the movie, but only to **define the character** of Tony Stark before his big-revelation. The scenes between his real love interest were **very tasteful** and as in the comic book - they **left the viewer wanting for more** - if u catch my drift;-) . The **jealousy** of the IM's secretary towards his'other' women was **effectively shown** with just a single dialogue **without boring** the audience.
*Robert Downey Jr. is Tony Stark / Iron Man** - He plays his part very well. The goatee suits him well and he was very natural - as an Inventor, a playboy and as IM.
*Jeff Bridges is Obadiah Stane / Iron Monger** - he is Tony's business partner and also a friend of Tony's father.
*Gwyneth Paltrow is Virginia'Pepper' Potts** - She is Tony's secretary and later becomes his love interest. As always, this woman shines! Looks stunning in a backless evening gown - classy, sexy n sultry!
*Leslie Bibb is Christine Everhart** - She is a reporter who is good looking and thus gets the Playboy Stark's attention. Looks good and is easy on the eyes.
*Faran Tahir is Raza** - You can call him IM's main enemy in the militant camp.
*Fast paced - effective - clever - stunning** are the adjectives I'd use to describe this movie! I dont even need to check the B.O. report to know that this movie would be at **No.1 in its opening week** and perhaps it might even **beat SpeedRacer** that releasing on May 9th 08. It broke the **$100 Million mark **on its opening weekend. **It's a big HIT!** Do check out **https://ironmanmovie.marvel.com/*
The movie has received a **B(plus) rating** from the **critics** on **Yahoo** and an **A(minus)** from the **users** on **Yahoo**. The ratings are well deserved. Watch it - **non-comicbook-fans enjoyed it very much **and gave it a **3.5 rating**. They called it much better then the cr@p dished out by Bollywood these days and this is from die-hard Hindi-movie fans. I would call **IM** the 1st movie of this summer that I anticipated and enjoyed! **My rating of the movie - 4.25/5.*
