I first joined iPoints in July 2001 when I was trying to purchase a mobile phone from Carphone Warehouse. At the bottom of the order page was a link to Web Rewards and I went and joined up there. About a week later I got an email from Web Rewards saying that they were merging with iPoints and that I could convert my Web Rewards to iPoints, which I did.

The site is quite easy to use, but looks quite boring, but I had a look around the site to find out how to earn points and joined up with Consumerlink, MyOffers.co.uk, and a few other places of interest to me. The two main sections of the site are the “Earn” and “Spend” sections. These are arranged in categories. The “earn” categories include, Questionnaires, Books, CD’s and Videos, Gifts, Finance, and many more. The “spend” categories include Magazine Subscriptions, Gifts, Gadgets, Travel, High Street Vouchers and so on.

There are a number of sites with links to iPoints where you get points for the amount you spend, e.g. BOL(Book Shop), but there are also places where you get points simply for registering, e.g. MyOffers, Consumerlink, these two sites also offer more points for filling in Questionnaires, which can get time consuming, but if you have nothing better to do then they are OK.

I was concerned about the amount of e-mails that I would get through registering with the sites, but as there is nothing to say that you have to continue to receive email, or information from these sites once you have your iPoints, so on a number of them I have simply unsubscribed from the mailing lists that are of little or no interest to me.

On Sunday, I decided that I would see what I could get with my points, and was not far off getting a £20 High Street Voucher so I got the extra points and ordered £20 of Boots vouchers. The £20 vouchers “cost” me 250 iPoints, but as I haven’t had to spend out anything to get it, I was quite pleased.

I claimed my Reward, on Sunday afternoon and it arrived this morning (Wednesday) in the form of two £10 vouchers, great since my husband needed to get some bits for the Kids, but didn’t need £20 worth of bits, so I now have £10 to go and spend on my bits on Saturday.

I am now planning what I will save up for next. Toys for the kids, more vouchers for me, something for my husband.
