On the whole my experience with Indigo had been positive until this morning, when I have been repeatedly let down for trying to do the right thing.
Before we dig in, here is the background - For a 6:30 AM departure from Chennai to Kochi(6E298), I did a web-checkin(ZBM9HD - PNR #, in case there is someone out there in Indigo who would like to reach me!) last night and reached the airport at 5:30 AM before getting my boarding pass printed at 5:45 at the counter. Although a busy Monday, no effort was made by the staff to fast-track me through the security checkin. I assumed I was still in good shape, nevertheless keeping an ear out for any announcements of boarding calls or flight departures. I heard none at the line, even as other airlines had staffers pulling out passengers and moving them ahead in order to board the flight. Jet Airways was calling passengers and asking them to move ahead in the security checkin. Since my phone was still quiet, I continued to believe that I was in good shape. I reach the gate at 6:31 AM and I am informed that I am the only passenger missing the flight.
I fully acknowledge that I was delayed and I would be able to live with that if what followed next hadn't been so ridiculous. I was told that I would be put on the next flight with a re-accommodation fee, which would have been okay had it been 500, 600 or even 800 INR. Indigo intends to charge me 2200 INR for re-accommodation on a flight whose regular fare is 2433 INR, as advertised on their own website. When I point this out to the staffer at the reservation counter, she shrugs it off and tells me I probably will have better luck with the customer service.
I then call customer service, where I repeatedly here'As per policy, .' and'YOU missed the flight sir, not us.' kind of responses. Which is disappointing to hear from a company that brags so much about its customer service and such. Anyway, thanks for everything Indigo. I will take my business elsewhere and look at my options at the consumer court. In the meantime, I will find as many review sites as possible to complain!
