Venue: Indian Idol Show

Two contestants Ravi Ravinder and Rahul Saxena, one of them to be eliminated. Former a bathroom singer, later a classical music student. Former without any great voice, later with a great voice. Former from a extremely poor family, later from not so rich family but better than former. One of them will make into the next round of Indian Idol. Whole nation is the judge. And winner is Ravi Ravinder.

I was psyched after listening to the results. The Indian public had voted for a layman in music against a classical singer for their Idol. Everybody knew that the Rahul was the best. But then what happened? Why did Indian public voted for Ravi Ravinder. The judges Farah Khan, Anu Malik& Sonu Nigam also couldn't believe what they just heard. Everybody was crying for Rahul Saxena.

All this made me think why so? Is it due to some inferiority complex our people are suffering? It seems that it has become our mentality that we should always have soft corner for the poor, no matter even if it requires the compromise with the quality. Last time I was happy that Indian public had eliminated Amit Tandon (guy with great looks, all the females will go gaga over him) as he had no music knowledge. But now I doubt whether the Indian public voted against him owing to his bad singing or GOOD LOOKS. May be jealousy played its part.

No wonder now why we still have reservations for seats in every walk of life (no personal grudge). Its not just the fault of politicians, our public has also equal role. We are the cause for all this. We need to change the mentality.

Give everybody equal chance to compete but select the one on talents.
