Review : When Idea was launched in Delhi, they put up a stall in our Hospital premises and gave me an Idea Postpaid connection under a special trial offer for Doctors. Under the scheme the sales executive told me that I would be charged no rentals for 3 months, Sms would be free, and there would be no registration or security. And that the service would be continued after the trial period only after my approval.
Happily ( but in reality sadly!) I filled up the form and the pack was delivered to me in few dayswith number 9891259954. When I inserted the SIM in my phone, to my dismay, the signal strength was just 1/5. The signal would become zero and phone would go out of network every now and then. I tried the SIM in Nokia, Motorola and Samsung Phones but in each one of them signal was close to zero. The problem was there in our campus too and where not. The network coverage of Idea is worst in Delhi, beleive me even Govt.owned MTNL is much better than Idea.
Anyway, I used idea for few days and realising that most of the time it is out if network coverage and that it is causing lossess to me in my medical line, I decided to take the Sim out and put my airtel sim back thinking that I would not give my approval beyond the 3 month trial period.
But to my surprise I received a Rs 1200 bill comprising of rentals which were charged beyond the trial period(which I never gave approval to). Next I recieved a call from CC regarding unpaid bills and I told him that My bill consisits only of unfair rentals and very few rupees of airtime. He checked his computer and confirmed the same and told me that since airtime I used was mearge, I need not pay anything and just fax the company to discontinue my services and tell them the signal problem (the services which I never gave approval to beyond the trial peroid)
Happy at the CC response, I did that promptly and till after 6 months from that, I never got any call from Idea and I thought that my bills were settled.
Now suddenly I get a legal notice to pay the bill. Beleive me, after 6-7 months of silence. I emailed the CC, they could not help me. They ask me to provide written proof of the telephonic conversation with their CC and my verbal communication with their sales person. So my dear friends, I recommend you NEVER ever go for Idea, and even if you do so, then always tap or record your communications with Idea staff so that they don't take you for ride later!!!!!
