My 15 year old son has a account, with HDFC. We were cajoled into taking this with promise that it doesn't have any maintenance costs.
Recently, we were shocked to learn that an amount of more than Rs. 750 has been deducted from his account unitarily as GST charges. It came as a huge shock to us and we reached out to the bank to communicate that deducting any amount without explicit agreement from us is a criminal offence. Since then we have spoken to them, have mailed them but even inspite of verbal promise of reversing it, it is still not resolved.
HDFC has proven it be unscrupulous and cheating us unsuspecting customers. I have decided to close all of dealing with this pathetic bank and wanted to share this so all of you can be careful and watch your account with HDFC like hawk so your honest money is not being stolen by this bank.
This is not a bank one should trust.
