Gmail....a good start indeed!. Review on Gmail.com

Gmail....the web service from Google.com....... it's been almost one year now since it was launched and so I decided to take a trip down the memory lane?..

Ok, firstly Gmail is a sort of exclusive club.....which means you can't just go and sign up.....but somebody has to recommend you. Its almost become a status symbol nowadays! For two days I think it was, last year anyone could register and since then only those guys could invite other people to open a Gmail account......well thankfully my dad was one of those lucky few so I got my account pretty quickly!

Secondly, the space?ONE WHOLE GB ?that?s right 1000 MB of space for free. Now I know that since then almost everyone has jumped on to the bandwagon and even yahoo, rediff, msn etc. are offering up to 250MB but Gmail was the pioneer. So now you need not worry about thinking whether you should sign up for newsletters due to space constraints.

Thirdly another feature which I liked was how the emails were in the format of conversations instead of threads. This is really convenient for carrying out prolonged back and forth correspondence. Even attachments upload damn quickly.

The interface is cool?.not too many graphics like MSN which makes it very slow but pretty simple. Pages load quickly most of the time although I have experienced problems at particular hours. Also instead of having different folders for different mails you can just name them separately and then search for it?.after all it?s from google ?what did you expect? And the great part is ..in over 450 emails ..I have not had a single spam mail :D !!!

Now the problems??the address book system isn?t that great ??.still needs work in my opinion. I am assuming that they read your emails coz all relevant ad?s appear ?so privacy-wise I don?t think that?s great. Apart from this I have had sending certain mails with pictures with them?.not sure whether everybody?s been having this problem. Apart from this I guess there aren?t any other drawbacks that I can think of?.
