I bought a Glen Chimney 6054 SS 890 m3 from a retail shop in Chennai. While purchasing the product, salesman gave an assurance for the chimney like Life Time Warranty, Warranty for motor, rotor, switch and filter, Installation will be done within two to three days.
After purchase, even after three weeks no one turned up and after sending a notice, Glen's service center in Chennai sent a serviceman for installation. Glen's service center manager told me that their service area was limited to Chennai only. However, I don't know why they are selling the product to customer outside their service limits without informing outstation charges. While purchasing, I informed my residence address for installation, and salesman didn't tell me anything about outstation charges. Glen charges Rs. 300/- for every visit to my area where no other brand chimneys or no other brand products charge for every visit. I had been attracted by LTW/Price and bought the Chimney. Only after buying the chimney, I came to know that actually LTW was bogus and there were a lot of hidden charges after purchase. Salesman didn't tell any of the below while selling the product. LTW is only for motor and switch controls where the salesman told me almost all the parts in the chimney come under LTW. If the LTW has to be in place, consumer should follow the below as per warranty card.
At least once in two months chimney should be serviced by Glen’s serviceman and cleaning charge is Rs.400/-.
Add Rs. 300/- for outstation charges if you are outside their service area.
LTW means only for seven years and not for life time like other brand chimneys offered.
Only LTW applicable parts will be replaced free and service charge has to be borne by the customer.
When you do all the above, at one point of time(within two years) you will end up with having spent above the chimney’s original price. You will be lucky only if the chimney runs well without any hindrance. Even though it has lot of good features, no body wants to spend more than chimney's price again. So don't ever buy Glen Chimney LTW and put a hole on your own pocket.
