Place is so much rolled up into that buddhist culture and monastries are the most exciting.. adventurous place to be in.. people are very helpful and understand nepali.. hindi, english
There are many ways for sightseeing.. cars , jeeps can be hired and tourism department of India is well equipped with those luxury buses.. for heavy tourist inflow
A personal advice.. this is a honeymoon destination as well as for fun and adventure excurtion.. hit this place this summer
