It has been many years since I first saw this movie, but it is logged by me as a 'classic'.

Ben Kingsley was the perfect casting for Gandhi. With his makeup, I really felt that I was in the company of Gandhi, himself.

My eyes were opened wide on learning there was prejudice against the Indian people. I had never thought about this: what other strifes were put upon these people.

I am old enough to realize what all Gandhi had done for the independence of India, but this film delves in depth the everyday events and struggles suffered to bring about this independence.

The acting is superb; the scenery is magnificent, both in Africa and India; the insight into the lives and beliefs of the people of India was well depicted (for what I know).

Not only was I highly entertained by this movie, but I came away with a keener appreciation of Gandhi and the people of India. This man's life should be celebrated by all the world; everyone can learn from his gentleness, devotion to a cause and his peaceful dedication.

A great movie about a great man.
