I got a ford ikon 1.6 2002 model for Rs 80000/- it was a reallly a trilling exprience when the old owner said it gives good average. I got tempted and brought it. my troubles started when each day I had to call a ex-engineer kamath from ford for it to jump start. put in round 20000 and saw that nothing is comming out of it. asked the engineer to replace the battery from dealership.onn the way back the alternator belt broke.here all started the orginal belt 2050 was not fitting and no relacement was available nearby.so had to go to operahouse to "Auto start" shop then to "Auto allied" these shop vendors were great people! I had to travel to dombivli and operahouse 3 time in a day just to check which belt fixed! the orginal belt was not traceable. the belt had cost me 960rs and a similar of maruti was available for 80rs. to make matters worse there are no reliable garagewalas those who are there alwayz cheat. I was luck bcoz of Subash Kamath ex-wasan employee now manager for BMW chembur, I am immensely grateful to him for his advice. Believe me after spending time and money I could ride that car for not more than 30kms. I made a vow that I would never buy a secondhand car ever. and ford cars are one of the BADLY degsined cars.Never buy ford! alwayz go for New Maruti car.
