Different but nothing to great. Review on Five Point Someone - Chetan Bhagat

Five Point Someone definitely has a fresh style. I have read few books of this type and that is probably because this is the writer's first effort and he writes in his own style rather than attempting to ape anyone.

One problem that I have with all Indian books written in English is that they somehow never truly sound correct. No matter what adjectives we use or how much vocabulary we shove in, the indian environ can never really be recreated in English. For instance ''Khujli'' and ''Itchy'' are never going to be the same thing. :-)

The book did not have anything so spectacular that would set it apart from the rest of the current crop of Indian English books that we see. It would have been more interesting to explore the mindsets of the three IITians a bit more and how they settled down to mediocrity. The development of each of the characters was also very scanty. We never knew why Neha fell for one and not the other.

Overall an entertaining read but do not expect it to move you in ways you haven't been moved before.
