I want to thank cybersunil for informing me about Firebird. I downloaded it yesterday and man-oh-man, its fantabulous.
The download was a breeze (perhaps because I have a high speed leased line), no supposedly menu driven installation that other browsers talk about, no Uninstall et al.
Just clicked on the executable and there I was, browsing the net. One just has to add the proxy data (if hooked on to the net via a proxy server). Beliece you me, its a completely refreshing experience, what with the annoying pop-up windows being blocked without any fancy utility to install.
Pages load much faster than IE and other elderly relatives. Though I have not yet tried out all the features, I have already made it my default browser. I cannot wait for the next major upgrade (release1.x) which would make it possibly the most stable one in the business.
Have not yet got funny Javascript errors (IE comes up with these quite frequently), not screen locks and moreover, it uses scant memory resources. This browser would be very useful for the home PCs which usually are short of memory. The small footprint (I mean HD usage) is a definite bonus. I want to thank the developers who have come up with a great product that will most certainly make inroads into the IE and other browsers market.
Once I explore all the functionality, I am definitely going to stop using IE, for critical as well as critical use.
