It's the music!

This film appeals to me basically because of the soundtrack. The film itself is a fairly corny love story. An innocent young girl goes away to a holiday camp with her family, and meets a dashing dance teacher. The female dance partner becomes ill after a botched abortion, and the young girl fills in to save both their jobs. This involves spending a lot of time with the dance teacher, learning routines, and the inevitable happens! This of course is not approved of by the girls family. I wont give away the ending, but as this is Hollywood, you can probably guess.

What saves this film, and gives it its cult status is the music and the dancing. This came out when I was at primary school, and I remember all the kids in the playground learning the dances. The soundtrack consists of classics from the 50's (when the film is set), with a few more modern songs added to it. Two examples that spring to mind are ''Be My Baby'' and ''In The Still Of The Night''. Believe me, you wont just watch this film, you'll sing to it, and maybe even dance.

p.s. it is a girlie film, so men will probably hate it!
