Cricket in Olympics
Aug 22, 2008 05:33 PM 1635 Views

Now a days there is huge cry among sports personality about including Cricket in the Olympics. Lot of sports personalities argue that cricket should not be included in olympics for various reason. I find those reasons illogical.

  1. Some person has stated that cricket is a team game and not individual game, so it should not be included. I request these people to explain me what is football and hocky. Aren't they team games?

If yes, then on what ground these are included in Olympics?

  1. Some people say that indians are crazy about cricket and inclusion of this game in olympics is detrimental to the interest of other games. I say this is rubbish statement. Howcome a game can be detrimental to another sport. Even if most of the indians follow cricket, isn't Mr. Bindra win in shooting was celebrated nationwide. Aren't the people sad when akhil & jeetender lost in quarter finals of boxing.

  2. One former great athlete of india has mentioned that cricket is played by only ten nations. I request her to update her knowledge. Nowever there are more countries playing cricket.

I will be happy to see cricket - t20 version in olympics.
