India's loss to S.Africa
Jun 27, 2007 10:17 AM 1872 Views

It was very sad to see India lose yet again to South Africa.Old habits die hard. Even though many of us decide not to watch cricket again it is to do so as it is tempting, may be perhaps it is in the blood of majority of Indians.According to me , Dravid's captaincy was found wanting. He was also experimenting with fielding positions, sometimes putting himself in slip, other times Tendulkar or someone else.Slip is a specialized position and you cannot keep playing musical chairs.

No wonder Sachin dropped a catch in slip. His bowling changes also left much to be desired.Rohit Sharma who was bowling his first over in his international career was handed over the ball in the 44th over or so. Yuvraj was given extended spell and sachin didn't bowl at all. Dravid did not know whether to attack or defend and lacked acumen while placing his fielders Many times easy singles were gifted away.If Indians lose one more match, Dravid is going to come under tremendous pressure from media which is bound to affect his batting performance in England and thus the morale of the Indian team.

I would suggest that Dravid should make an announcement right now that after the England tour he would like to quit his one day captaincy like Michel Vaughn did for England. Dravid can continue to lead the test team. Some youngster like Yuvraj or Dhoni should take over one day captaincy.I hope some good sense prevails upon the seniors & BCCI to ensure that most popular sport in India does not meet its natural death
